LAWRENCE, Kan. – The No. 37 Kansas tennis team will wrap up its home regular-season schedule by hosting a doubleheader on Friday, April 3 against South Dakota at 10 a.m. CT and West Virginia at 5 p.m. CT, before hosting Senior Day against Cincinnati on Sunday, April 5 at 12 p.m. CT. All matches will be played at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.
Kansas comes into the weekend with a 9-9 record and 5-4 mark in Big 12 play after falling at No. 16 Arizona State and at No. 39 Arizona last weekend. The Jayhawks are 5-5 against ranked opponents this season. South Dakota comes into the match with a 5-11 record and sits at 1-2 in the Summit League. The match will be Kansas' final non-conference match of the regular season. West Virginia currently has a record of 7-9 and is 1-8 mark in conference play.Â
For Senior Day, the Jayhawks will host Cincinnati on April 5 and will honor one senior, Heike Janse van Vuuren. The Bearcats enter the weekend with a 7-10 record, with a 1-8 mark in Big 12 play. Cincinnati will face Iowa State on Friday, before facing the Jayhawks.
Kansas remained in this week's team rankings, sitting at No. 37. The Jayhawks have two players ranked in doubles and singles, with Kyoka Kubo ranked at No. 67 in singles with a 8-6 record this season. Kubo joins van Vuuren in the doubles rankings, as they are ranked No. 56. The pair is 4-1 on the season.Â
Van Vuuren is currently 9-7 in singles play to lead the Jayhawks. Meg McCarty is 8-4 in doubles play with her partner van Vuuren, and is currently 7-4 in singles play this season. Kubo has joined Meriem Ben Ezzedine in doubles play and has played to a 5-3 record as a pair.
