LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas baseball's
Tyson LeBlanc earned multiple national awards on Tuesday for his play last week. LeBlanc received the Brooks Wallace Award Player of the Week, presented by the College Baseball Foundation, the Dick Howser Trophy National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and was named to Baseball America's National Team of the Week.
Â
LeBlanc was named the Big 12 Player of the Week and the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Monday by the conference office.
Â
Last week, LeBlanc hit .529/.636/1.235 (9-for-17), with three doubles, three home runs, 10 RBIs, seven runs scored and five walks with a 1.871 OPS. He helped Kansas to a perfect 4-0 week at Missouri and versus Utah. LeBlanc connected on a home run in three of the four games and has hit nine home runs in the last 12Â games.
Â
All three of his home runs came in the sixth inning or later and put the Jayhawks ahead. LeBlanc hit a walk-off two-run homer in a 14-12 comeback victory in Thursday's game against Utah, a three-run home run to break an 8-8 tie in the 8th inning at Missouri and a two-run homer in the 6th inning on Saturday when trailing Utah 8-7.
Â
The Maurice, Louisiana, native hit safely in all four games, while scoring at least one run and driving in at least one RBI in every game. He brought in multiple RBIs in three of the four contests.
Over the last 15 games, LeBlanc is batting .450/.539/1.000 (27-for-60), with four doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 26 RBIs, 26 runs scored and 14 walks with a 1.539 OPS. That stretch has raised his season batting average from .194 to .320.
Â
LeBlanc is the first player in Kansas history to receive the Brooks Wallace Award Player of the Week honor. He is the fifth Jayhawk in program history to be named NCBWA National Hitter of the Week.
Jackson Hauge (2025), Travis Metcalf (2003), Ryan Baty (2003) and Jeff Mentel (1989) also received the accolade. Baseball America introduced its National College Team of the Week this season and LeBlanc is the first Jayhawk to earn a spot on the team.

Brooks Wallace Award
The Brooks Wallace Award is presented annually to honor the nation's most outstanding shortstop. It is a tribute to Brooks Wallace, a slick-fielding shortstop at Texas Tech from 1977-80 who passed away at age 27 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Prior to 2009, the award recognized the national player of the year.
