ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Kansas women's golf sits in seventh place at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional after the second round on Tuesday. The Jayhawks finished the second round with a score of 293 (+9) and sit 21-over in the regional. KU entered the day tied for eighth in the 12-team field.
Ohio State leads the way in the tournament at 1-over, followed by Northwestern and USC tied for second at 2-over. Texas Tech sits at 5-over and Duke sits at 8-over to round out the top five after two rounds of the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional. Following Wednesday's final round, the top five teams will advance to the NCAA Championship, held May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa's Champions Course in Carlsbad, California. Additionally, the lowest-scoring individual not on an advancing team will also qualify for the NCAA Championship.
"We played the par 3s much better today and recorded a seven-shot improvement, and we made more birdies than yesterday, which was a great sign," Kansas head coach
Lindsay Kuhle said. "At one point we were just back three strokes of fifth. It'll take a strong day tomorrow. We've done it in the past and posted strong final rounds, and I believe this team can do it."
Sophomore
Ebba Nordstedt has led the way for the Jayhawks through the first two rounds of the tournament. Nordstedt carded a score of 71 (E) in the second round, and sits tied for 11th at 1-over going into the final round.
Senior
Anna Wallin put together the best round of the day for the Jayhawks. Wallin shot a 70 (-1) and moved up 15 spots on the individual leaderboard. Wallin now sits in tied for 18th and 2-over for the tournament.
Freshman
Kinslea Jones finished round two with a score of 74 (+3), making her 8-over on the tournament. After Jones' second round score, she moved up 10 spots on the individual leaderboard and is tied for 40th place individually.
Senior
Amy DeKock shot a 78 (+7) in the second round and sits tied for 45th place overall at 10-over, while junior
Lyla Louderbaugh finished round two with a score of 82 (+11) and is tied for 57th place after two rounds.
