LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas track & field is set to compete in the Big 12 Outdoor Championship this weekend, May 14-16 at Roy P. Drachman Stadium in Tucson, Arizona.Â
The Big 12 Outdoor Championship begins on Thursday at 1 p.m. and will continue through Saturday. The meet will stream live on ESPN+, with live results

Stanley Redwine said. "Often people think of track and field as an individual sport, but I approach it as a team sport. Everyone has a job to do or role to contribute to the success of the team. It's going to be a great opportunity to enjoy contributing, because at the end of the day we are all Kansas Jayhawks."
In the latest USTFCCCA rankings, the Kansas men's team was ranked No. 32 in the country and the women's team was ranked No. 39. The Jayhawks were represented by several event groups in the USTFCCCA's Event Squad Rankings with the men having the fourth best pole vault group in the country, composed of
Anthony Meacham (No. 1 nationally) and
Bryce Barkdull (No. 4) and the 23rd best 1,500 meters group. The women's team has the 12th highest ranked long jump group, 15th best triple jump group and the 21st best 400 meter hurdles group.
Events will begin Thursday with the decathlon at 1 p.m. CT. The heptathlon will begin at 2 p.m. CT with the 100 meter hurdles. Field events will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday with the men's hammer throw, followed by the women's hammer throw at 4:30 p.m., the men's javelin at 6:45 p.m. and the women's javelin at 9:15 p.m.
Thursday's running events will begin at 8:30 p.m. with the men's 1,500 meters preliminaries followed by the women's. The preliminary rounds of the 200 meters and 400 meter hurdles will follow with the men running before the women. Thursday will wrap up with the men's 10,000 meter run at 10:30 p.m. and the women's 10,000 meter run at 11:05 p.m.
The multi events will finish on Friday, with the decathlon 110 meter hurdles beginning the day at 1 p.m. The heptathlon long jump will begin at 2 p.m. The decathlon will finish with the discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and 1,500 meters, with the last event scheduled to begin around 9:25 p.m. The heptathlon will finish with the javelin and 800 meters, with the final event scheduled to begin around 6:30 p.m.
Friday's field events will consist of the men's shot put and long jump at 6:30 p.m. with the women's shot put and long jump and both pole vaults beginning at 8:30 p.m.Â
The running events will continue Friday with preliminaries and will conclude with the 3,000 meter steeplechase finals. The men's 110 meter hurdles preliminaries begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by the 100 meter hurdles, 800 meter runs, 400 meter dashes and 100 meter dashes. The men's steeplechase is set to begin at 10:10 p.m. with the women's at 10:30 p.m.
Saturday will wrap up the meet with the men's high jump, discus throw and triple jump at 5 p.m. The women's field events will conclude with the high jump, discus throw and triple jump at 8 p.m.
Saturday's field events will begin with the 4x100 meter relays at 7:30 p.m., followed by the 1,500 meter run, 110 and 100 meter hurdles, 400 meter dash, 100 meter dash, 800 meter run and 400 meter hurdles. The men's 200 meter dash will begin around 8:50 p.m. followed by the women's 200 meters, the 5,000 meters and finally the 4x400 meter relays.
The Jayhawks will be competing to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary in Fayetteville, Ark. on May 27-30. The top 48 individual athletes in each event and the top 24 relay teams in the region will qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary, where they will then have the opportunity to punch their ticket to the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships. The top 24 national multi event athletes will not compete in the regional and will qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Qualifying lists can be found on TFRRS.org.
