SURPRISE, Ariz. – Following a Big 12 title in the regular season, No. 13 Kansas Baseball will now play in the Big 12 Tournament at Surprise Stadium this week. The Jayhawks have qualified for the tournament in four consecutive seasons for the first time ever. Kansas will play the winner of Wednesday's BYU and Baylor contest on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
Â
"To win the regular season title was step number one," head coach
Dan Fitzgerald said. "We've got multiple opportunities for championships throughout the year, with one being the regular season and two being the conference tournament."
Â
Kansas (39-16, 22-8 Big 12) won the conference title outright with 22 league wins. It was the first regular season conference championship for Kansas since 1949 as a member of the Big Seven and only the fourth in school history (1923, 1924, 1949). The Jayhawks set new school records with 22 conference victories and eight conference series wins.
Â
Fitzgerald claimed Big 12 Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season on Tuesday. He is the first back-to-back Big 12 Coach of the Year since Augie Garrido did so at Texas in 2010 and 2011. Fitzgerald also is the first coach in program history to be named a coach of the year in two separate seasons.
Â
In addition to Fitzgerald,
Tyson LeBlanc and
Boede Rahe were All-Big 12 First Team,
Cade Baldridge,
Josh Dykhoff and
Dominic Voegele received All-Big 12 Second Team and
Brady Ballinger and
Mason Cook earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.
Â
Heading into the conference tournament, Kansas is the only Power Four program with at least 39 overall wins, 20 conference wins and 20 road wins. The Jayhawks finished with more overall wins and conference wins than any team in the Big 12.
Â
Over the last two seasons, Kansas has 81 regular season wins (42 in 2025, 39 in 2026). That is the most regular season wins in the Big 12. KU is one of eight programs nationally with at least 81 regular season wins over the last two years.
Â
This week, Kansas is ranked No. 13 in the Top 25 by D1Baseball, No. 14 by Baseball America and the NCBWA and No. 16 by USA Today.
