Â
Kansas improved to 37-11 overall this season and 20-4 in conference play with the victory. KU is the first Big 12 team with 20 conference wins in back-to-back seasons since Nebraska in 2000 and 2001. Kansas sits in first place in the Big 12 standings with a 4-game lead.
KU has at least 37 wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1993-94 and only the second time in program history. With Sunday's win, the Jayhawks have two double-digit winning streaks in the same season for the first time in school history.
Â
Tyson Owens hit two home runs for his second multi-homer game of the season and Brady Ballinger also had a solo blast. The two home runs for Owens pushed his season total to 10. Kansas now has four hitters with at least 10 home runs in back-to-back seasons for the first time in school history.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Arizona (16-30, 7-17 Big 12) struck first on Sunday with two runs in the top of the second inning. Cash Brennan hit a two-run homer to put the Wildcats ahead 2-0.
• Kansas responded in the bottom of the second with a four-run inning. Ballinger led off the inning with a opposite field solo homer. Two batters later, Owens did the same with a solo home run to left field to tie the game at 2-2. The Jayhawks scored two more runs in the inning on a Josh Dykhoff RBI ground-rule double and a Jordan Bach RBI single. That gave Kansas a 4-2 advantage at the end of the second.
• The Wildcats scored a run in both the third and fourth innings on RBI singles to tie the game at 4-4.
• The Jayhawks grabbed the lead again in the bottom of the fourth with five runs. Dylan Schlotterback had an RBI double down the left field line to start the scoring. Bach followed with a two-run triple off the batter's eye. Following a pitching change, Baldridge was up next and sent the first pitch to center field for an RBI single. The scoring concluded with a sacrifice fly from Dariel Osoria. The five-run frame put Kansas ahead 9-4.
• KU added two more runs in the seventh inning on another sacrifice fly by Osoria and the second home run of the day for Owens. That stretched the game to 11-4.
• Arizona closed out the scoring with a solo home run by Dom Rodriguez in the eighth.

QUOTABLES & NOTABLES
"Super proud of the guys. I think that's an Arizona team with three really good starters, a tough bullpen and some really young hitters that are dangerous. I thought our staff did a nice job of holding them down. Mathis gave us what we needed with three, and then Toby, Riane and Boede were outstanding in relief. Made plays behind them, had some timely hitting and to have two big innings in a game with four in the second and five in the fourth was really big. Great preparation and great execution." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
"I think they just love playing baseball. They're tough, they work hard and they take their preparation very seriously. They're really fun to be around. There's a lot of work that goes into this. Still a lot of coaching, a lot of preparation and specific to each player. There's a lot of stuff right now that that they're just running with – the energy in the dugout, their attitude towards each other. It's a very selfless group." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
"It's great. We just want to keep coming out and keep winning series. Our goal every week is to just come out and do our job. Our focus is one pitch at a time and one game at a time. I think that's what has made us so successful this year." – Tyson Owens
