Castans Named to Hermann Trophy Watch List

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas soccer defender Caroline Castans was named to the 2026 Women's Hermann Trophy Watch List, the United Soccer Coaches announced Wednesday.
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.Â
The 2026 watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Women's All-America Council from a list of returning 2025 All-Americans and First Team All-Region players. A total of 15 players will be named 2026 Hermann Trophy semifinalists on December 4 at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2026 recipient will be announced January 8, 2027, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis.Â
Castans had a stellar 2025 season, breaking the school record for most assists in a season with 15 while also setting a career high with 19 points. She finished the year tied for third in the country and led the Big 12 in assists. Castans received multiple awards throughout the year, garnering United Soccer Coaches All-America Fourth Team honors. She was also named Big 12 Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Big 12 First Team.
Kansas opens the 2026 season at home on August 12, as the Jayhawks take on Utah State at 7 p.m. CT at Rock Chalk Park. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here or by calling the Kansas ticket office at 785-864-3141.
