LAKE FOREST, Illi. - Kansas men's golf is set for its' third event of the season, traveling north to Lake Forest, Illinois for the Windon Memorial Classic at Onwentsia Golf Club. The Jayhawks will compete over two days beginning Monday, Sept. 28.
The 16-team field is hosted by Northwestern, with Oral Roberts, Marquette, Indiana, South Florida, Kentucky, Michigan State, Georgia Southern, Minnesota, Charlotte, Cal Poly, UC Davis, Penn State, Notre Dame and Washington joining the Jayhawks.
"I don't know a lot about Onwentsia, but I'm certain it will be a lot like the courses Northwestern typically host on, with fast sloping greens, tight bent grass fairways and a lot of trees," Kansas head coach Jamie Bermel said. "It will be great golf, and we'll be playing against a good field,"
Will Baker, Nicolas Vidal-Reig, Arthur Carlier and Hartej Grewal will each travel to Illinois, the third event of the year for Baker, Vidal-Reig and Carlier, and the second for Grewal. They will be joined by senior Noah Holtzman.
"After two quick events, we have been at home practicing and doing some good work. I know the guys are excited to get back on the road," Bermel said.
Baker led the charge for Kansas at the Folds of Honor Collegiate in early September, shooting under par in each of the three rounds to finish at -8 in third overall.
Carlier finished just behind Baker in a tie for 12th, shooting a 70 in each round en route to a -3 final score.
Vidal-Reig collected nine birdies last time out, tallying four in the third round and finishing tied for 40th.
Grewal last played at the New York Harbor Cup, finishing tied for 34th while tabbing nine birdies on his own.
Holtzman is set for his first event of the season.
