Jake Swalley joined the Kansas Football staff in 2025, working as a defensive analyst under head coach Lance Leipold.

Swalley arrives in Lawrence following six seasons at the University of Miami, including the last three seasons where he was a defensive quality control analyst for the Hurricanes. Prior to that, Swalley served as a graduate assistant on the Hurricanes’ staff from 2019-22.

From 2017-19, Swalley served as a graduate assistant coach at Louisiana Tech University.

Swalley played college football for Arkansas State playing on the defensive line. As a senior, he was named a team captain and started on the defensive line. In 2015, he played in in all 13 games. Over his career at Arkansas State, he compiled 30 tackles, 8.0 tackles-for-loss, 3.0 sacks, was a two-time Sun Belt Champion and was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy.
Swalley transferred to Arkansas State from Highland Community College in Kansas, where he was a two-year starter, All-KJCCC selection and was one of three people to receive the Foundation Scholarship.

Swalley earned his Masters of Liberal Arts and Sciences from the University of Miami and earned two degrees from Arkansas State University in Education and Interdisciplinary Studies. Swalley also earned his Masters in Educational Leadership at Lousiana Tech.

A native of Overland Park, Kansas, Swalley played at Blue Valley Northwest high school, where he was a Class 6A All-State Selection and represented the state of Kansas in the Kansas vs. Missouri All-Star game.
