Kansas knocks off Seminole State in fall ball opener

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas softball comes away with the 7-2 win over Seminole State on Sunday afternoon inside Arrocha Ballpark to open up their 2019 fall ball schedule.

Redshirt sophomore Sydnee Ramsey put the statement on the Jayhawks victory with a two-run bomb to center field in the fifth inning to give Kansas a 4-0 lead. After Seminole State was able to cut the lead in half in the sixth, KU was able to tac on another three runs in the bottom of the ninth to push the lead to five.

Ramsey and senior Sam Dellinger led the way with two RBIs a piece on the afternoon. The Kansas pitching staff had a lot of positives as well, as they combined to only giving up one hit all afternoon to the visiting Trojans.

The matchup between the two teams went 10 innings to allow for position and batting changes for both teams throughout the game.

Next up for Kansas is an exhibition game against Johnson County on Wednesday (Sept. 18). The game is set to begin at 6 p.m. at Arrocha Ballpark.
