LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas concluded the Kansas Invitational with a three-set defeat to Syracuse in the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena. KU finished the tournament 1-2 with a win in its home opener against Morehead State Thursday, Sept. 12.
In the first set, Kansas and Syracuse battled back-and-forth and the Jayhawks held a narrow one-point advantage, needing only four points more to claim the set. The Orange mounted a comeback and rattled off five-consecutive points to take the set.
Set two was more of the same for the two schools with Syracuse claiming a two-set edge after beating KU 31-29.
In the final set, Kansas was unable to gain momentum and fell to the Orange to close out the tournament.
The KU attack was led by Zoe Hill, who finished with a team-high eight kills, while fellow senior Ashley Smith tallied five. Sara Nielsen again finished with 20-or-more assists and was the team leader with 27. Allie Nelson secured double-digit digs and finished with 10.

Kansas travels to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Rebel Challenge and is scheduled to face UNLV and Arizona State.
