LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas soccer sophomore defender
Caroline Castans was named to TopDrawerSoccer's Women's Team of the Week, the publication announced Tuesday. Castans was one of 11 Division I women's soccer players selected to the team.
Castans scored both goals in a 2-0 shutout victory at Kansas State on Oct. 25. The multi-goal performance and game-winning goal were both the first of her career. Castans finished the match with a career-high four points and helped the team record its seventh shutout of the season.
On Tuesday, Castans was announced to the All-Big 12 First Team. Castans has scored two goals and tallied five assists this season. She leads all Kansas field players this season with 1,428 minutes played and her five assists are tied for 10th in the conference. Castans also received Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 28.
Castans is the first Jayhawk this season to be recognized by TopDrawerSoccer for the Women's Team of the Week. Graduate
Hallie Klanke was the last Kansas player to earn the accolade on Sept. 5, 2023.
Kansas and Castans will play Arizona State on Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. CT in the first round of the Big 12 Championship at CPKC Stadium in Kansas City.
