LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas Track and Field team saw multiple strong performances in their indoor season opener, the Bob Timmons Challenge, on Saturday afternoon.Â
Kicking things off was
Mason Meinershagen, who won the women's pole vault with a height of 4.25m. Meinershagen was the lone female indoor qualifier for Kansas at last year's NCAA Indoor Championship, and she made it with a personal best 4.45m, which tied the Kansas indoor women's pole vault record.Â
Other personal bests earlier in the day include
Weston Van Camp (16.75m in the men's weight throw, first place),
Sidney Smith (600y, 1:24.40 for first) and
Charli Foreman in the long jump (5.66m).
Zac Biel tied his men's high jump personal best, opening his season with a 2.05m mark.Â
Clayton Simms won the men's pole vault with a best mark of 5.26m, while
Anthony Meacham came up right behind him in second place at the same height.
Payton Kasper set an indoor PR of 4.91m in the men's pole vault, opening his season on a high note.

Horizontal jumps newcomers
Richelle Stanley and
Kori Randle notched a pair of wins, with Stanley taking the long jump victory with 5.89m and Randle winning triple jump at 12.24m.Â
Other victorious Jayhawks were
Aaron Merritt (8.24, 60m hurdles),
Madison Campbell (56.35, 400m),
Methias Carter (1:14.05) and back-to-back wins for
Peter Walsdorf in the mile and 3000m.
Madeleine Fey won the women's shot put to open her freshman season, throwing a new lifetime best of 15.37m.Â
Kansas brought home a pair of 1000m victories, with
Bethany Druse running 3:00.90 to win for the women, while
Nathan Thengvall ran unattached and took the top spot with a time of 2:32.35.Â
Up next, Kansas will head to K-State for the Triangular on January 17, where they will face off with K-State and Washburn.Â
