MAUI, Hi. – The Kansas men's golf team is set to the conclude their fall season at the Ka'anapali Classic on Oct. 27-29 at the Ka'anapali Golf Club in Maui, Hawaii. The Jayhawks are coming off an impressive fourth place finish at the Quail Valley Invitational on Oct. 19-20.
Kansas competes in a 19-team field that includes Hawai?i, Boise State, Colorado, CSUN, East Tennessee State, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia, Gonzaga, Indiana, North Florida, Oklahoma, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Southern Illinois, TCU, UConn, UC Irvine, and Wyoming.
The Ka'anapali Classic will consist of three rounds in an 18-18-18 format spanning over each of the three days of competition.
"We compete in another quality field on a golf course we have played many times."Â Kansas coach Jamie Bermel said, "We are playing well and want to continue playing well throughout this tournament."
Kansas coach Jamie Bermel will travel with a lineup of seniors Will King, Luke Honner, junior Will Baker, sophomore Hartej Grewal, Ty Lasley, and freshman Arthur Carlier.
Grewal has led the way for the Jayhawks in their last three tournaments. Grewal has notched three straight top 10 finishes, while also securing two finishes inside the top five. Grewal is leading the team with a stroke average of 70.0 over 12 rounds, and has tallied a team-high six rounds in the 60's.
Seniors King and Honner have been solid pieces for the Jayhawks this season. King is carrying a scoring average of 70.9 and has recorded three tournaments inside the top 20. Honner is carrying a scoring average of 71.6 and is coming off a tie for 18th place at the Quail Valley Invitational.
Baker is coming off his best tournament of the season in Vero Beach, Florida, where he competed as an individual and tied for second place with scores of 66-66-71 (203). Baker is currently carrying a stroke average of 72.3 over nine rounds.
Carlier is carrying a scoring average of 72.1 over 15 rounds, while tallying one top 10 finish and two rounds in the 60's.
Lasley is coming off a tie for 47th place at the Quail Valley Invitational after posting scores of 70-75-71 (216). Lasley is carrying a stroke average of 72.8 over 15 rounds.Â
