LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawks are set to finish off their Big 12 Conference road schedule this Saturday when they travel to Ames, Iowa to take on the Iowa State Cyclones at Jack Trice Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. CT on FS1.
The Jayhawks enter Saturday's contest with a 5-5 (3-4 Big 12) mark on the season and are in search of bowl eligibility with two regular season games remaining. If Kansas were to become bowl eligible, it would be the 15th bowl appearance in school history and the third in the last four seasons. Kansas has made three bowl games in four seasons just once before in program history.
The matchup between Kansas and Iowa State has deep history as this will be the 105th meeting in the series. Kansas owns a 53-45-6 advantage and has enjoyed recent success under coach Lance Leipold against the Cyclones.
The Jayhawks have won each of the last three meetings, including a 28-21 win in Ames in 2023, which was Kansas' first win in Ames since 2008. The three victories over the past three years have come at three separate locations with the 2022 win coming in Lawrence and the 2024 victory coming at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
With two weeks remaining in the regular season, Kansas is coming off its third and final open week of the 2025 season following a 24-20 loss at Arizona on Nov. 8. Kansas has been led all season by redshirt senior quarterback Jalon Daniels, who is having the best year of his career by completing 175-of-269 passes for 2,190 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Daniels' 21 passing touchdowns are a career-high and are the fifth most in single season school history. Daniels is also 1-of-8 active FBS players with over 10,000 career total yards of offense. He is also a finalist for the Campbell Trophy and a semifinalist for the Jason Witten man of the Year.
Daniels' top target is senior wide receiver Emmanuel Henderson Jr., who leads the Jayhawks with 41 receptions for 638 yards and five touchdowns. Henderson has compiled 1,030 all-purpose yards and is 1-of-4 players in the Big 12 Conference with over 1,000 all-purpose yards this season. He had five catches for 65 yards and a touchdown last time out against Arizona.
Kansas redshirt junior Trey Lathan leads the team with 69 tackles, while 16 different Jayhawks have recorded or assisted on a sack this season.
Iowa State enters the Saturday matchup at 6-4 (3-4 Big 12) this season. Iowa State got back in the win column after losing four-straight Big 12 games by defeating TCU, 20- 17, behind 14 fourth quarter points to take down the Horned Frogs in Fort Worth on Nov. 8.
Quarterback Rocco Becht has thrown for 2,230 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Cyclones, while running back Carson Hansen is fourth in the conference in rushing and has 721 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.
Following the road matchup in Ames, Kansas will play Utah at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium on short rest. Kickoff for the final regular season game of the year is set for 11 a.m., on Friday Nov. 28.
