LAWRENCE, Kan. – Riding a five-match winning streak and a dominant sweep over Kansas State on Nov. 15, No. 13 Kansas (20-8, 11-3 Big 12) heads to Utah for a pivotal Week 12 road trip. The Jayhawks will take on Utah on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. CT in Salt Lake City before facing No. 25 BYU in Provo on Friday, Nov. 21. Both matches will stream on ESPN+.
"This group has shown so much toughness and maturity down the stretch," said head coach Matt Ulmer. "Going on the road in Utah and facing two disciplined teams is a great challenge for us, but our focus is on continuing to play connected volleyball. If we stay true to our identity, defending at a high level, serving with purpose, and trusting our depth, we'll give ourselves every chance to be successful."
Kansas enters the week playing its best volleyball of the season, undefeated in November and fresh off a statement win in Manhattan, where the Jayhawks swept the Wildcats and rallied from a 22–17 deficit in the third set to complete the sweep, avenging their five-set loss to K-State on Oct. 24 in Allen Fieldhouse. KU now sits second in the Big 12 standings and remains firmly inside the AVCA Top 15 since Oct. 6.
The road trip begins against Utah (12-13, 4-10 Big 12), a matchup the Jayhawks have historically controlled with a 3–1 all-time series lead, including a sweep in their most recent meeting on Oct. 26, 2024. Kansas holds statistical edges in nearly every category.
Kansas will then travel to Provo for a ranked showdown with No. 25 BYU (18-8, 6-8 Big 12). The Cougars hold a 4–2 advantage in the all-time series and claimed last year's meeting in four sets. BYU brings one of the league's highest-powered offenses, averaging 13.94 kills per set and 1.73 aces per set. numbers that will challenge KU's disciplined block and back-row defensive systems.
Offensively, the Jayhawks continue to lean on their balanced core of Jovana Zelenovic, Rhian Swanson, Reese Ptacek, and Grace Nelson, with setter Katie Dalton orchestrating one of the Big 12's top statistical attacks. KU remains the conference leader in total assists (1,336), total kills (1,435), and total attacks (3,717), a testament to its tempo and multi-option scoring depth.
With momentum on their side and postseason positioning at stake, the Jayhawks aim to keep their November run alive, with two key road victories before closing the regular season next week against Iowa State and UCF.
