LAWRENCE, Kan. – No. 16 Kansas volleyball (20-10, 11-5 Big 12) will wrap up its regular-season slate this week with a pivotal road match against a ranked opponent, followed by a celebration of its senior class at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena.
The Jayhawks first travel to Ames, Iowa, to face No. 21 Iowa State (22-5, 12-4 Big 12) on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 6:30 p.m. CT inside Hilton Coliseum. Kansas will then return to Lawrence to host UCF (16-11, 7-9 Big 12) for Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 1 p.m. CT. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+. KU looks to solidify its standing for a potential opportunity to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament.
"We're going to see how tough and competitive we are this week," said head coach Matt Ulmer. "I'd love to see a great sense of urgency and confidence as we close out the last week of the regular season."
Iowa State leads the all-time series, 54-43, though the Jayhawks claimed a 3-1 victory in their first meeting this season on Oct. 10. The matchup against UCF will be the first of the year between the two programs, with Kansas holding a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series.
Kansas enters the final week of conference play riding an impressive statistical wave, leading the Big 12 in total kills (1,511), total assists (1,404), total digs (1,612) and total attacks (3,921). The offense is powered by freshman pin hitter Jovana Zelenovic, who leads the team with 330 kills and 38 aces, and orchestrated by senior setter Katie Dalton, who has distributed 673 assists this season.
The Jayhawks' defense is equally impressive, ranking second in the Big 12 in total blocks (285.5). The front line is led by Aurora Papac (1.37 blocks per set) and Reese Ptacek (1.09 blocks per set), who also boast the team's best hitting percentage at .333. Back-row defense is anchored by senior libero Ryan White, who leads the Big 12 with 438 total digs.
Saturday's home match will conclude with the annual Senior Day ceremony, honoring the contributions of the graduating class, including student equipment manager Allyson Humberd and players Katie Dalton, Brynn Kirsch, Molly McCarthy, Ellie Schneider, Rhian Swanson, and Ryan White.
Following the regular-season finale, the Jayhawks will await their postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show on Nov. 30, starting at 5 p.m. CT.
