BOULDER, Colo. –The Kansas women's tennis team faced an early 2-0 deficit but battled back to defeat Colorado 4-2 in Boulder on Sunday. Kansas moves to 7-5 (1-1 Big 12) and Colorado falls to 6-4 (0-2 Big 12).
The Jayhawks battled in doubles action and kept the matches close but ultimately dropped two out of the three matches. Kansas' Kyoka Kubo and Jasmine Adams fell to Colorado's Lera Alexin and Mila Stanojevic 4-6 on court two. On court three, the pair of Yerkezhan Arystanbekova and Anna Putilina lost to Ema Bubalo and Pia Rebec 4-6.Â
Colorado picked up the first singles point on court one as Stanojevic defeated No. 102 Mulville 6-3, 6-4. The Jayhawks then roared back and won four straight matches to clinch the match for Kansas for their first Big 12 Conference win of the season.
On court three, Kubo defeated van der Werff 6-2, 7-5. Court four finished up next as van Vuuren defeated Colorado's Bubalo 7-6 (2), 6-3. Kansas took the lead with Putilina's 7-5, 7-5 win over Alexin on court six.Â
The Jayhawks clinched the match over the Buffaloes on court two, as Maria Titova defeated Betina Tokac in three sets, 6-2, 6-7 (6), 7-5.
Meriem Ben Ezzedine battled Rebec in a tight three set match on court five before it went unfinished with the scores of 4-6, 6-4, 5-4.
