LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas women's tennis team picked up its first top-30 win of the season with a 4-2 Big 12 Conference win over the No. 26 Arizona State Sun Devils inside the Jayhawk Tennis Center on Friday evening.
"It was a big win. I mean we've been in a lot of these close battles, we've lost some, we've won some. I just love the way we fought today," head coach Todd Chapman said. "We didn't give in, we fought on every court and singles and that's what that's all you can ask them to do is give your best effort whatever the score ends up being, it ends up being. I just love the freedom we played at the end of doubles and end of singles, just with confidence and the freedom that you have to play with in those big moments. I'm just really proud that we went after it."
Kansas improves to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in Big 12 Conference play, while marking their best ranked win since defeating No. 22 Old Dominion in 2023. Arizona State falls to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in Big 12 play this season.
