TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 34 Kansas women's tennis dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 39 Arizona at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center in Tucson, Arizona, on Sunday afternoon.Â
Kansas fell to 9-9 overall and 5-4 in Big 12 play. Arizona won its fifth-straight match improving to 15-8 (6-3 Big 12).Â
"Today we hopefully taught a really important lesson," Kansas head coach Todd Chapman said. "If you want to beat an NCAA tournament team on the road, you have to bring it at every spot in the lineup and today we didn't."

On court two, Josie Usereau and Maria Garcia defeated Heike Janse van Vuuren and Meg McCarty 6-4, and on court three, Tanvi Narendran and Martyna Ostrzygalo took down Kyoka Kubo and Meriem Ben Ezzedine 6-1 to give Arizona a 1-0 lead in the match.
Court one featured Kansas' Yerkezhan Arystanbekova and Anna Putilina, as the pair were leading their match against Zoya Chulak and Ciara Moore in a 5-4 unfinished match.
The Wildcats kept the momentum going into singles play, grabbing three wins to take the match with a score of 4-0. Kansas was leading in two different matches before they went unfinished, with Ben Ezzedine leading against Narendran 7-6 (8), 0-2 and McCarty leading against Garcia in a three-set match 6-4, 1-6, 0-2. Arystanbekova was in a tight 5-7, 5-5 battle against Moore on court three before that match went unfinished.Â
Arizona grabbed wins on courts one, two, and six, with Ostrzygalo defeating No. 53 Kubo 6-3, 6-4; Usereau taking down van Vuuren 6-4, 6-1; and Chulak picking up a 6-4, 6-3 win over Putilina.
