LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas men's golf team will make its program-record ninth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance when it tees off Monday, May 12 in Washington for the NCAA Bremerton Regional at Gold Mountain Golf Club.Â
Led by head coach Jamie Bermel, the Jayhawks will compete as the No. 8 seed in the three-day, three-round Bremerton Regional, teeing off in the opening round on Monday, May 12.
"Very excited to play in the postseason in the Bremerton Regional," said Bermel. "I am somewhat familiar with the course and it will be a great test of golf. I'm certain the rough is up and the greens will be firm and fast."Â
Bermel and the Jayhawks will go with the travel lineup of senior Gunnar Broin, juniors Will King and Luke Honner, sophomore Max Jelinek and freshman Ty Lasley. Sophomore Noah Holtzman will be the alternate player for Kansas.  Â
Broin and King have led the Jayhawks all season, each posting sub-71 scoring averages and capturing an individual title. As a team, the 44th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks have recorded nine top-five finishes in 12 events, highlighted by a dominant 19-shot victory at the Hawkeye Invitational on April 13.
The top five teams from each region will qualify for the NCAA Championship, May 23-28, at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa Champions Course in Carlsbad, California. Additionally, the low individual not from a top-five finishing team from each region will also advance to the NCAA Championship. King captured that spot in 2023 out of the NCAA Norman Regional. Â
"I've told the guys all week that we don't have to play great to advance, just play good, solid golf," Bermel added. "Obviously, there will be a lot of emotions for a lot of teams. If we just go play, we will be just fine. 54 holes is not a lot of golf. We need to get off to a good start on Monday. There is nothing more exciting and nerve-racking in college golf than the Wednesday round of Regionals. I know our guys are ready for the opportunity."Â
