CARLSBAD, Calif. – The Kansas women's golf team is set to compete in the NCAA Championship at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa Champions Course in Carlsbad, California, from May 16-21. This marks the Jayhawks' third NCAA Championship appearance in program history and their first since the 2014 season.
The NCAA Championship format features three rounds of stroke play with 18 holes each on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, after which the field will be cut to 15 teams. A fourth round of stroke play on Monday will determine the individual national champion and the top eight teams that will advance to match play for the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship match.
Â
"We are excited to travel with five of the same athletes in the lineup that won the regional championship last week," said fourth-year Kansas head coach
Lindsay Kuhle. "We've had a great last week of practice and are super excited to represent KU by playing great golf."
Â
The Jayhawks are capping off one of the most successful seasons in program history with an NCAA Championship berth. They captured six tournament titles this season, including their first NCAA Regional championship, marking the most tournament wins in a single season in program history. Kansas also tallied five individual victories, highlighted by
Lyla Louderbaugh's historic win for the program's first individual NCAA Regional title.
  Â
Kuhle and the Jayhawks will travel with a lineup featuring seniors
Lauren Clark and
Johanna Ebner, juniors
Amy DeKock and
Anna Wallin, sophomore
Lyla Louderbaugh, and freshman

Clark was named to the All-Big 12 First Team following the conference championship.
Â
Louderbaugh enters the NCAA Championship fresh off her first collegiate victory at the NCAA Columbus Regional, where she won by eight strokes and closed with a final-round 65 (-7). She owns the team's second-lowest stroke average at 72.1 and has recorded five rounds in the 60s this season.
