ARLINGTON, Texas – Kansas first baseman
Brady Ballinger was selected to the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team, the conference announced following the conclusion of the tournament.
Â
Ballinger was a key part of the Jayhawks advancing to the Big 12 Championship semifinals for a second consecutive year, with a 2-for-4 performance that included a double, game-tying three-run homer, four RBIs, one walk and one run scored. He finished the tournament with a 1.301 OPS.
Â
In the first inning of Thursday's game, Ballinger hit an RBI double to give Kansas an early 1-0 lead. Trailing 6-3 in the seventh, Ballinger stepped up to the plate with two outs and two runners on. He took a 1-0 pitch out to the seats in right field to knot up the game at 6-6 and give the Jayhawks new life. Ballinger was also intentionally walked to load the bases in the ninth right before
Mike Koszewski's walk-off RBI single.
Â
Ballinger is the 11th Jayhawk in program history to be named to the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team, and the first since Maui Ahuna in 2021.
