GREENWOOD, Ind. –The Kansas women's golf team had three athletes recognized on the College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic At-Large All-District team, with seniors
Johanna Ebner and
Lily Hirst and junior
Amy DeKock earning honors on Tuesday.
The group helped Kansas women's golf to a historic season that included capturing the NCAA Columbus Region title for the program's first appearance at the NCAA Championships since 2014.
To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. A student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Specific requirements for golf athletes include being in the lineup for 70 percent of the team's scoring throughout the season, or in the lineup at the conference championship tournament.
A key contributor to KU's regional victory, Ebner finished the tournament at 1-over par to tie for 12th, including a final round 5-under 67 that included seven birdies. In the classroom, she posted a 3.93 GPA and graduated with a degree in Sports Management this past May. A native of Villach, Austria, Ebner spent her entire four-year collegiate career at Kansas. She graduated as a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection and a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholar last season.
Another WGCA All-America Scholar for the 2023-24 season, Hirst concluded her final two years at Kansas after transferring from Incarnate Word. Hailing from Huddersfield, United Kingdom, Hirst recently graduated with a in Bachelors in Psychology after maintaining a 3.74 GPA. Both Hirst and Ebner's post-graduate plan includes testing out the professional waters.
Wrapping up her third season with the Jayhawks, DeKock rounded out the regional win by tying for 35th at 10 over par. The junior has spent her entire career at Kansas and is set to graduate in the spring of 2026 with a degree in Finance. A native of Palm Desert, California, DeKock finished the academic year with a GPA of 3.7 and was a Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection last season.
The trio of Kansas women's golfers are eligible for the CSC Women's At-Large All-America Team, which will be released on July 8.
