Kansas Records First Top 10 Finish of the Spring Season

PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The Kansas women's golf team tied for ninth place at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge, finishing with scores of 293-295-288 (+24).Â
UCLA won the tournament with a score of 844 (-8), followed by Texas (+3), Texas A&M (+9), Florida (+12), and Oregon (+13) to round out the top five.
"This was a good finish to our first tournament. All six of our players played well, which is exactly what you want throughout the tournament and in the final round,"Â Head coach Lindsay Kuhle said after the tournament. "We're very proud of the ladies and look forward to the rest of the spring. I'm really proud of Ebba and how she finished with a 68 and a birdie on the last hole."
Sophomore Ebba Nordstedt led the way for the Jayhawks in California, putting up scores of 72-73-68 (E). Nordstedt finished in eighth place, marking her second top 10 finish of the season, and eighth top 20 finish of her career. Nordstedt recorded her fifth career round in the 60's, along with double-digit birdies and one eagle in the tournament.
Junior Lyla Louderbaugh finished the tournament with scores of 70-71-74 (+2) and tied for 12th place. Louderbaugh recorded her fifth top 20 finish of the season, and 14th top 20 finish of her career.Â
Seniors Amy DeKock and Anna Wallin both tied for 59th place with a 54-hole score of 225 (+12). DeKock carded five birdies throughout the tournament and finished with scores of 80-73-73 (+12), while Wallin carded eight birdies and finished with scores of 73-78-74 (+12).
Sophomore Jillian Fatkin tied for 81st place individually and finished the tournament with scores of 78-80-76 (+21).
Freshman Kinslea Jones competed as an individual and finished with scores of 67-74-73 (+1) and tied for ninth place individually. Jones recorded her first top 10 finish of her career and recorded her first round in the 60's, after her opening round 67 (-4) on Sunday. Jones' ninth-place finish is her best finish this season, and she recorded her lowest 54-hole score with a 214 (+1).

The Kansas women's golf team will travel to Peoria, Arizona, to compete in the Wisconsin Westbrook Invitational at the Vistas Course at Westbrook Village Golf Club from Feb. 22-23.
