Kansas Has 81 Student-Athletes Named to Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Big 12 Conference announced the 2024-25 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team on Tuesday, with a combined 846 student-athletes earning the honor. Kansas athletic programs had 81 student-athletes recognized on the team.

Of the 81 Jayhawks honored, 19 earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average (GPA) for the 2024-25 academic year. Student-athletes to earn a 4.0 GPA include Zoe Canfield (women's basketball), Ebba Nordstedt and Lauren Madson (women's golf), Grace Bailey, Victoria Bell and Alannah Lohfeld (rowing) Kate Lengfelder and Sophia Nickel (soccer), Bailey Weber (softball), Tait Haag, Lucia Krings, Maya Lambert, Izzy Porter and Sophie Wallace (swimming & diving), Samuel Trumble and Ryan Wittlesey (men's track & field), Allyson Dutoit and Madeleine Fey (women's track & field) and Heidi Devers (volleyball).

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team must be new, first-time/incoming freshmen that have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial coursework and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.

Additionally, the student-athlete must have participated in at least one of their team's scheduled contests and must have been a member of their respective team for their sport's entire NCAA Championship segment. The Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team was introduced in the 2012-13 academic year.

Kansas women's track and field led the way for the Jayhawks with 15 honorees, followed by 13 from men's track and field, 11 from rowing and 10 from swimming and diving. Kansas soccer had seven student-athletes on the team, followed by six from softball and five from volleyball. KU Football had three players on the list, as did men's and women's basketball, while both golf programs had two apiece, followed by tennis with one.
