LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas soccer (11-3-1) rose one spot in the Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization for Coaches (IWSOC) weekly rankings on Tuesday, jumping to No. 18 in the country in their second consecutive week in the polls. The Jayhawks won their lone match last week, a 1-0 victory over Iowa State at Rock Chalk Park.
Â
Kansas' win came with late heroics from Marit McLaughlin, who scored an 87th minute corner kick goal that broke a scoreless deadlock between the Jayhawks and Cyclones. The victory was Kansas' ninth clean sheet of the year, and the sixth win at Rock Chalk Park in six games.Â
Â
The Jayhawks also climbed to No. 15 in the NCAA RPI, and No. 20 in the TopDrawerSoccer poll. Four Big 12 teams (Colorado, West Virginia, Baylor and Texas Tech) sit above Kansas in the RPI, with the Jayhawks hosting Texas Tech at home to end the regular season.
Â
Kansas will play a pair of Big 12 matches this week, hosting No. 20 BYU at Rock Chalk Park on Thursday, Oct. 22, before traveling to Fort Worth, Texas for a matchup with TCU on Sunday, Oct. 25. Kickoff on Thursday is set for 6 p.m. CT, and Sunday's kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT. Both matches can be seen on ESPN+.
