MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas soccer will travel west on Thursday, Oct. 8 to take on the Kansas State Wildcats in the Dillons Sunflower Showdown. Kickoff at Buser Family Park in Manhattan is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, and the match can be seen on ESPN+.

"We're looking forward to getting back on the field and responding the right way after a tough loss last week," Kansas head coach Nate Lie said. "We know what's in front of us with Kansas State, and we have to be ready to compete. It's a big rivalry game, it's on the road, and we're going to have to bring a lot of energy and focus to get the result we want."
The Jayhawks collected their first conference loss last Friday in Waco, falling 3-1 to No. 6 Baylor. Despite the loss, Livvy Moore tallied her NCAA-leading 10th assist of the season in the closing minutes of the match, finding Jillian Gregorski who added her seventh goal of the year.

Thursday marks the second match of a three-game road trip for Kansas, as the Jayhawks will travel to Boulder, Colorado on Sunday for a matchup with the Colorado Buffaloes. It is the second-longest road trip of the season for Kansas, behind only a four-game non-conference trip.
Moore leads the country with 10 assists this season, while Gregorski leads Kansas and is tied for second in the Big 12 with seven goals. Sophie Dawe is tied for second in the conference with five shutouts. As a team, Kansas ranks sixth in the Big 12 with 75 points, while its 25 goals are tied for fifth and its 25 assists are tied for third in the conference.

Kansas State enters Thursday's match with a 5-3-4 record. The Wildcats are 0-3-1 in Big 12 play, with a draw against Arizona and losses to Houston, Arizona State and BYU. Gabby Demers leads Kansas State with five goals, while Rilyn Rintoul and Langley Mayers pace the Wildcats with three assists. Kansas State was picked 14th in the Big 12 preseason poll.

Kansas and Kansas State have faced off 11 times since the Wildcats added a soccer team in 2017. The Jayhawks lead the all-time record 7-2-2, having won each of the last three matches between the two. Kansas tallied four goals in a 4-1 win over Kansas State in 2025, tied for the largest margin of victory in the matchup's history (3-0 Kansas, 2019.)
