LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas Track & Field team is scheduled to participate in four meets this weekend from Feb. 13-14. The majority of the team will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Tyson Invitational.
"For all of our athletes, this will be a great opportunity to compete against high level competition." Kansas head coach Stanley Redwine said. "As the competition level continues to increase, it is a great time to achieve better times, set higher marks, and prepare ourselves well for the upcoming Big 12 meet and beyond."
Kansas will have a split squad this weekend with Jayhawks participating in four meets across the country. A handful of Kansas runners will travel to Boston to compete in the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational, with Emmah Jemutai and Stephen Maroro also competing at the Crimson Open hosted by Harvard University.Â
A group containing mostly jumpers and sprinters will travel to Topeka, Kan. to compete in the Ichabod Invite hosted by Washburn University, and the remaining athletes will travel to Arkansas.Â
The Kansas men's team was ranked 27th in the latest USTFCCCA checkpoint, while the women's team was ranked 64th.Â
Following this weekend, the Jayhawks will have only one more competition weekend before heading to the Big 12 Championships in Lubbock, Texas from Feb. 27-28.Â
Tyson Invitational
Kansas Track & Field will have athletes competing on Friday and Saturday, going up against some of the top talent in the country.
"I'm really excited for our athletes to go up against some of the best and professionals down in Arkansas." Redwine said when previewing the meet, "They always do a great job at the Randal Tyson Track and we're excited to gauge where our athletes are compared to the field. They've had a little bit of rest so hopefully they are in great shape to tackle the end of the season."
The meet is scheduled to begin on Friday at 1 p.m. with the men's 60 meter dash preliminaries with the field events kicking off with the men's pole vault at 1:15 p.m. The field events will conclude on Friday with the women's long jump at 6:30 p.m. while the women's 60 meter hurdles championship will wrap up the track events at 7:50 p.m. as part of the World Athletics Silver Tour.Â
Events will continue on Saturday, with the women's pole vault kicking things off at 10:30 a.m. and the men's 5,000 meters beginning at 11:45 a.m. The field events will wrap up with the 4x400 meter relays at 3:40 p.m., while the women's triple jump championship will wind down the field events at 2:30 p.m.

BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational & Harvard Crimson Open
A group of Kansas distance runners will travel to Boston for the opportunity to compete against other top runners in the country.Â
"For our athletes travelling to Boston, it is going to be great competition. When you look at last season's National Championships, a lot of the athletes competing in them qualified at that track and this meet, so we're excited to take advantage of this opportunity to compete." Redwine said.
The Jayhawks' men's team will compete on Friday in the mile, 3,000 meter run, and 5,000 meter run at 12:20 p.m., 3:45 p.m. and 5:40 p.m., respectively. On Friday, Jemutai will also compete at the Crimson Open in the 800 meters at 12 p.m.Â
On Saturday, Kaitlyn Swartz and Jemutai will compete in the women's mile at 12:20 p.m., while Maroro will compete in the men's mile at Harvard at 1:35 p.m.

Ichabod Invite
Kansas will head to Topeka to compete in the Ichabod Invite on both Friday and Saturday, competing in several events.
On Friday, Kansas will compete in the women's 200 meters at 2:40 p.m., the women's long jump at 12 p.m., the women's high jump at 2 p.m. and the men's long jump at 3:30 p.m.
On Saturday, the Jayhawks will kick things off with the women's weight throw at 10:30 a.m. The women's and men's 60 meter dash preliminaries will be at 11 a.m. and 11:50 a.m., with the finals scheduled for 2:45 and 2:50 p.m. The women's pole vault invite will happen at 1:30 p.m., with the men's at 4 p.m. Kansas will wrap up on the track with the women's 3,000 meter run at 3:50 p.m.
