
Kansas Jayhawks Split Opening Day at Fonseca Memorial Tournament

Kansas erupted for 10 runs across the first two innings against Indiana State to secure a 10–4 victory, highlighted by home runs from Aynslee Linduff and September Flanagan. Later in the day, the Jayhawks jumped out early against Boston College but could not overcome a late sixth-inning rally, dropping a 4–2 decision and setting their focus on Sunday's finale in Tampa.
How It Happened | vs. Indiana State
- Kansas' bats came alive in the bottom half with a three-run frame to take the lead. Presley Limbaugh drew a leadoff walk and stole second to spark the rally before Linduff tied the game with an RBI single up the middle. Campbell Bagshaw followed with an RBI single to put Kansas in front, and Flanagan added a sacrifice fly to cap the inning. Kansas led 3–1 after the first.
- In the second inning, Kansas broke the game open with a seven-run frame. Tehya Pitts walked to start the rally before Limbaugh reached on a single and an error to put two on. Linduff launched a three-run home run to center, and later in the inning, Flanagan crushed a three-run homer to left-center. Kadence Stafford added an RBI double as Kansas pushed its lead to 10–1.
- Indiana State answered with a run at the top of the third on an RBI double to right-center. Kansas threatened in the bottom half with a Flanagan double but could not add to its lead.
- The Sycamores plated another run after loading the bases, scoring on a hit-by-pitch to make it 10–3. Kansas was held scoreless in the bottom half.
- Indiana State scored an unearned run in the fifth following a steal and a throwing error, trimming the lead to 10–4. Kansas recorded one hit in the inning but did not score.
- Kansas pitching worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the sixth on a Blakely Barber strikeout to keep Indiana State off the board. The Jayhawks were retired in order in the bottom half.
- Kansas stayed in control, and the Sycamores were unable to mount a comeback in the seventh as the Jayhawks secured the 10–4 victory.

How It Happened | vs. Boston College
- The Jayhawks got their bats going quickly in the top of the first. Limbaugh earned the first hit of the game with a single, and Linduff followed right after to move Limbaugh into scoring position. Flanagan then worked the count to 3–1 before hitting a double to right-center, driving in Limbaugh and Linduff.
- In the circle, Kaelee Washington got the start, and the defense behind her recorded two quick groundouts. A batter then walked, but another groundout allowed Kansas to easily get out of the inning.
- Both teams went three up, three down in the second inning.
- In the third, Boston College got on the board, but Kansas quickly retired the side to return to the offense.
- Both teams then went scoreless through the next two innings.
- Boston College caused havoc in the bottom of the sixth after laying down a bunt with one runner on. A Kansas error sent both runners home, giving the Eagles a one-run lead at 3–2.
- Kansas got out of the inning, on a Chloe Barber strikeout, but Boston College pushed one more run across to make it 4-2 to give the Jayhawks one more chance on offense
- The Jayhawks were unable to respond and went down in order, handing Boston College a 4–2 victory.
