Fayetteville, Ark. – Kansas fell to No. 8 Arkansas, 11-3, on the road as the Razorbacks capitalized on early momentum and timely power hitting to secure the win through five innings.
The Jayhawks were unable to generate consistent offense early, while Arkansas used a pair of multi-run innings to build a significant lead. Kansas showed signs of life in the fourth inning with three runs on four hits, but the Razorbacks responded quickly to maintain control and close out the game.
How It Happened | vs. No. 8 Arkansas
- Presley Limbaugh and Aynslee Linduff both struck out swinging, and although Anna Soles worked a walk, the Jayhawks were unable to capitalize.
- In the bottom half, Arkansas struck immediately as the Razorbacks launched a solo home run to center. After two walks extended the inning, Arkansas delivered an RBI single down the right field line, and a three-run homer followed giving the Razorbacks a 5-0 lead.
- The Jayhawks were unable to respond in the second, managing only a walk from Hailey Cripe while three straight strikeouts ended the threat.
- Arkansas added to its lead in the bottom half when Arkansas hit the second home run of the game, pushing the advantage to 7-0.
- Kansas went down in order in the third, and Arkansas tacked on another run in the bottom of the inning, stretching the Razorbacks' lead to 8-0.
- The Jayhawks finally broke through in the fourth after a pitching change. Ella Boyer singled up the middle, and Cripe doubled to center to drive in the first run. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, Cripe scored on Kadence Stafford's RBI double to left center. Ava Wallace later doubled to bring Stafford home, cutting the deficit to 8-3.
- Arkansas answered again in the bottom of the fourth. A two-run home run to left center, extended the lead for Arkansas to 10-3.
- Kansas was retired in order in the fifth, and Arkansas added one more run in the bottom half making it an 11-3 game through five innings.
