LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas Track & Field team is set to open its 2025-26 outdoor season at home on Saturday when it hosts the Jayhawk Spring Fling at
Rock Chalk Park.Â
"We are excited to get things underway in what should be a great weather day for our first of two home meets," Kansas head coach Stanley Redwine said. "The outdoor season is a completely new season, everyone is at square one. So, I'm excited to see where our athletes are at and it'll be good for our coaches to see where we can improve."Â
The meet will kick off with the men's and women's javelin throw at 10:30 a.m., followed by the hammer throws at 11 a.m. and the discus events directly after. The long jumps and pole vaults will begin at 11 a.m., and the field events will conclude with the triple jump immediately after the long jump.
Things will get started on the track around 1 p.m. with women's 100 meter hurdles, followed by the men's 110 meter hurdles at 1:10 p.m.
The 800 meters is scheduled to begin around 1:15 p.m. and 1:20 p.m., respectively, followed by the 400 meter run at 1:30 and 1:35 p.m. The 400 meter hurdles will kick off at 1:45 and 1:55 p.m. before the 200 meter dashes at 2:05 and 2:15 p.m.
The women will run a 1,500 meter race at 2:25 p.m. before the men's run begins at 2:35 leading in to a short break. The meet will wrap up with the 4x400 meter relays at 3:20 and 3:25 p.m.
"We're hoping that for our athletes that competed well during the indoor season, they continue to compete well outdoors, and are also looking forward to seeing some new people compete and see where our team is at as a whole," Redwine concluded.
The meet will be the first of two Kansas home meets this season, with the Rock Chalk Classic taking place May 1-2.
