
No. 23 Kansas Splits Doubleheader vs. Baylor Friday

"Really proud of the way we responded in game two," head coach Jennifer McFalls said. "Blakely was outstanding in the circle and we found a way to manufacture a run when we needed it. That's the type of toughness you have to have in conference play."
Kansas is now 28-12 (9-5 Big 12) on the season, while Baylor is now 24-17 (7-7 Big 12). The rubber match is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Arrocha Ballpark.
Freshman Blakely Barber pitched a complete game shutout in the second game of the doubleheader, her first career complete game. It was Kansas' fifth shutout of the season.
National Freshman of the Week Ella Boyer provided the spark in the sixth inning of game two, doubling as the leadoff. Boyer was replaced at second base with junior Madi Hays, who would later score on a Kadence Stafford sacrifice fly, which would prove to be the winning run.
How It Happened | vs Baylor | Game 1
- In the top of the first, the Bears plated one run to take an early 1-0 lead. In Kansas' turn at the plate, Anna Soles sparked the offense with a stand-up double that drove in two runs, giving the Jayhawks a 2-1 lead.
- Baylor tied the score at 2-2 by plating one run in the top of the second. Kansas responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning which was highlighted by a two-run double from Soles. The junior had four RBI in the first two innings of the contest as KU led 5-2.
- Baylor retook the lead at 6-5 scoring four runs in the top of the fourth inning. Kansas would tie the game at 6-6 when Soles collected her fifth RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Presely Limbaugh who walked to start the inning for KU.
- Junior Kadence Stafford hit her seventh home run of the season over the right field fence to lead off the bottom of the fifth giving KU a 7-6 lead.
- Baylor scored two runs in the top of the seventh to take game one of the doubleheader.

How It Happened | vs Baylor | Game 2
- Kansas went with freshman Blakely Barber in the circle in game two of the doubleheader, who held Baylor to just two hits through the first five innings. Both teams were held scoreless through five innings.
- Freshman Ella Boyer provided a spark in the bottom of the sixth inning with a double to left center with no outs. Junior Kadence Stafford would hit a sacrifice to center field to give Kansas a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth.
- Barber came in to complete the shutout to give Kansas a 1-0 win.
- The win marked the Jayhawks' 28th of the season, tying the most in a single season during Jennifer McFalls' tenure as Kansas softball head coach.

- Kansas added to its single-season home run record, currently at 69. The previous KU record was 60 homers in 2011.
- In game one, Anna Stoles ended the contest with career-high-tying 5 RBI and has recorded at least one RBI in six-straight games and 9 in that span.
- Kadence Stafford hit her seventh home run of the season in the first game.
- In game one, freshman Ella Boyer walked a career-high four times. Her previous high of 3 walks occurred twice, most recently against Arizona State on April 4.
- Freshman Blakely Barber pitched her first complete game shutout, pitching 7.0 innings and allowing just four hits.
