LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas softball remains at home on Wednesday, April 15, as the Jayhawks host Missouri in the StorageMart Border Showdown. The game is slated for 5 p.m. CT from Arrocha Ballpark and will be streamed on ESPN+.Â
ÂKansas (29-12, 10-5 Big 12) is coming off a series victory over Baylor last weekend, winning the final two games of the series. The high-powered Jayhawks offense continues to shine as KU leads the Big 12 in doubles, and rank in the top three in the conference in batting average, runs scored, hits, slugging percentage, RBIs, home runs, triples and total bases. The Jayhawks have now won all five of their Big 12 series and six-straight series overall.Â
"A lot of highs and lows, but we just stay confident," Kansas head coach Jennifer McFalls said. "We just keep believing. Our dugout has been awesome. The ones that are not everyday role players just continue to bring the energy for us."Â
Jayhawks Hailey Cripe, Kadence Stafford and Ava Wallace each homered in the Baylor series last weekend, highlighting the dominant Kansas offense. Ella Boyer also provided a spark, batting .500 on the weekend with a double, three runs scored and drew eight walks. September Flannagan was the hero in the series finale on Saturday, as the junior utility player came through in the clutch with a pinch-hit walk-off RBI single in the seventh inning to give Kansas the series win, 5-4.Â
ÂBlakely Barber led the way in the circle for the Jayhawks, notching her first career complete-game shutout. Barber finished the game, throwing seven innings, giving up only four hits and striking out one on only 100 total pitches in game two of the doubleheader on Friday, a Kansas 1-0 win.
ÂMissouri (22-22, 6-9 SEC) will prove to be a good test for Kansas as the Tigers provide a well-seasoned lineup, having four players start every game this season, and two more start in all but one game. The Tigers are led by junior catcher/outfielder Stefania Abruscato, who leads the team with a .341 batting average while also tallying seven doubles and nine home runs, boasting a .977 OPS.Â
