DALLAS – Kansas Baseball redshirt junior pitcher
Boede Rahe was selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List, the association announced Wednesday. The award is given annually to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball.
Â
Rahe, who was on the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Preseason Watch List, has become one of the key arms on the Kansas pitching staff this season. In 16 appearances, Rahe has posted a 5-1 record with six saves and a 3.24 ERA in 33.1 innings pitched. Rahe has 40 strikeouts compared to only 13 walks and opponents are hitting .232 against him.
Â
Other than back-to-back Friday starts, Rahe has worked out of the bullpen in high leverage situations. When the Jayhawks have needed to escape jams or finish games, they have called upon Rahe. His six saves are tied for the most in the Big 12 and his five victories are tied for fourth most in the league.
Â
On April 13, Rahe received Big 12 Pitcher of the Week and Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week. Rahe was crucial for Kansas in its perfect 4-0 week against ranked opponents that included a win at No. 19 Nebraska and a three-game series sweep of No. 12 UCF. He was on mound to finish three of the four wins against ranked competition, earning a win and two saves. The Marion, Iowa, native threw seven innings and did not allow an earned run. Rahe posted a 0.57 WHIP and opponents had only a .083 batting average against him.
Â
Rahe is one of 61 of the nation's top relief pitchers named to the midseason watch list and only one of 18 who was on the initial preseason watch list. Kansas has had one NCBWA Stopper of the Year in program history. Don Czyz won the award in 2006.
Â
The NCBWA will announce the finalists on Wednesday, June 3, with the winner being named on Friday, June 12, at the 2026 Men's College World Series.
