LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas Track and Field multi event athletes are scheduled to compete in Azusa, Calif. at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 9-10.
"We're really excited for the opportunity to compete this weekend and think it will be a great chance to go up against good competition," Kansas coach Michael Whittlesey said. "For some of these athletes it will be the first multi event of the year, and they're doing a really good job balancing the excitement and focus to compete."
Katie Wink is set to kickoff the Jayhawks with 100 meter hurdles at 1 p.m. CT. She will then compete in the high jump at 1:45 p.m., shot put at 4:15 p.m., and 200 meter dash at 5:30 p.m. to wrap up her day. Reese Hulcher will then compete in those events beginning at 5:30 p.m., 6:15 p.m., 8:15 p.m., and 9:30 p.m., respectively.
On Saturday, Wink will kick off the second day of the heptathlon with the long jump at 1 p.m. followed by the javelin throw at 2 p.m. She will wrap up the first heptathlon of her career with the 800 meter run at 3 p.m. Hulcher will compete in the long jump at 3 p.m., javelin throw at 4 p.m., and 800 meters at 5 p.m.
Oliver Duffy will get the men underway at 1:20 p.m. Friday with the 100 meter dash, followed by the long jump at 2 p.m. He will then compete in the shot put at 3:10 p.m., high jump at 4:15 p.m. and 400 meter dash at 6:30 p.m. Conor Dunback will compete in the same order beginning at 3 p.m., continuing at 5:40 p.m., 6:50 p.m., 8:15 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.
The men will continue on Saturday, with Duffy competing in the 110 meter hurdles at 2 p.m. He will then compete in the discus at 3 p.m., pole vault at 4:30 p.m., javelin throw at 7 p.m. and 1,500 meter run at 8 p.m. Dunback will wrap up the Jayhawks with events at 4:30 p.m., 5:20 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 9 p.m. and the 1,500 meter at 10 p.m.
