LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas junior midfielder
London De Fini has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. It is De Fini's first Big 12 honor this season.
Â
De Fini was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week on Tuesday.
Â
From Gretna, Nebraska, De Fini set new career highs with three assists and five points in the 7-0 win over Missouri State on Aug. 16. She accounted for four goals and was one of five goal scorers in the match. The seven goals scored are the most Kansas has scored against a Division I opponent and the most goals scored in a road match in program history.
Â
De Fini contributed to the defensive effort that conceded only one shot against the Bears, tying a program record for the fewest number of shots allowed. The Jayhawks recorded shutouts in both matches, marking the first time since 2020 that KU has begun the season with back-to-back shutouts.
Â
No. 12 Kansas takes on No. 19 Ohio State on Thursday, August 20 in Columbus, Ohio. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m. CT.
