At what age did you start playing football and how did you get into football?
- I started playing at seven years old because my brothers played.
Tell us about your hometown/where you're from?
- I'm from St. Louis. It's a big city with a lot of culture.Â
How would you describe your game to someone who hasn't seen you play?
- Fast and physical.
2024: Played in 11 games, starting 10 for the Jayhawks in 2024... Compiled 18 tackles incluing 5.0 tackles-for-loss and 1.0 sacks ... at Illinois: Assisted on three tackles against the Illini... UNLV: Recorded two tackles against the Rebels... at West Virginia: Tallied three tackles against the Mountaineers... TCU: Recorded a tackle against the Horned Frogs... at Arizona State: Assisted on two tackles against the Sun Devils... Houston: Recorded a pass breakup against the Cougars... at Kansas State: Tallied two solo tackles for loss and a pass breakup against the Wildcats... Iowa State: Recorded two total tackles, a TFL, a sack, and a QB hit against the Cyclones... at BYU: Tallied two total tackles against the Cougars... at Baylor: Recorded a solo tackle in the season finale vs. Baylor.
2023: Saw action in all 13 games, tallied six tackles, half of which were solo, and also added 1.5 tackles for loss and a half of a sack in his junior season with the Jayhawks... Recorded two tackles, including one solo tackle, also recorded a tackle for loss in the contest…  at Iowa State: Tallied three total tackles, including 0ne solo tackle… Also recorded half of a sack in the win over the Cyclones…
2022: Played in 11 games, recorded nine tackles and a tackle for loss, along with half of a sack during his sophomore season with Kansas... Tennessee Tech: Recorded a half-sack for a one-yard loss in season opener … at West Virginia: Did not record any stats … at Houston: Did not record any stats … Duke: Did not record any stats … Iowa State: Recorded two tackles (one solo, one assisted) in win over the Cyclones … TCU: Assisted on a tackle against the Horned Frogs … at Oklahoma: Recorded four tackles (one solo, three assisted), one of the assisted tackles came for a loss … at Texas Tech: Assisted on a tackle against the Red Raiders.
2021: Saw action in all 12 games for KU, while starting four contests … Registered 14 total tackles (eight solo, six assisted) with a career high two tackles-for-loss against South Dakota for five yards…at Coastal Carolina: Totaled three tackles, including two solo stops…at Duke: Posted a career-high four tackles against the Blue Devils with two solo tackles and two assists…Also tallied a quarterback hurry…at Oklahoma State: Picked up an assisted tackle…at Texas: Collected one solo tackle.
2020: Saw playing time in each of KU’s final three games of the season … Recorded three tackles (one solo, two assisted) … Forced a fumble, which was returned for 15 yards. at Oklahoma: Made his first appearance for the Jayhawks this season and recorded his first stats, collecting two assisted tackles against the Sooners … TCU: Recorded his first stats as a Jayhawk when the freshman defensive lineman made a solo tackle in the second quarter … at Texas Tech: Played on KU’s defense for the third game in a row … In the fourth quarter, he recovered and returned KU’s third forced fumble of the day for 15 yards … The fumble recovery was a career first for the freshman from Kansas City, Missouri.
High School: Rated a three star strongside defensive end by Rivals.com … Also earned a three-star rating from ESPN and 247 Sports … Helped Staley HS to the District Championship in 2019 under the direction of head coach Phil Lite … Voted First Team All-Conference his junior year at Hazelwood Central HS in St. Louis, Missouri … Had a breakout game in the playoffs against Raytown during his senior year, scoring two touchdowns, including an interception, while recording two sacks and seven tackles.
Personal: Son of Chandra and Brian Taylor … Has five siblings: Nick, BJ, Chris, Eric and Tay … Plans to major in architecture … Chose Kansas over offers from Illinois, Iowa State, Ohio, SMU and Wyoming, among others.
