2007-08 (Freshman): KU[apos]s top diver during the 2007-08 season… A two-time AAU national champion… An NCAA Zone D qualifier her first season as a Jayhawk… Recorded KU season-best scores on the one and three-meter boards, along with the platform event… Recorded season-best dives against Iowa State on the one-meter (307.65) and three-meter (302.33) boards… Named Big 12 Diver of the Week Feb. 20 for her performances against Iowa State… Represented Kansas at the 2008 Big 12 meet… Returned to the finals of the three-meter and platform competitions at Big 12s… Finished fourth on the platform (219.05) and eighth on the three-meter board at Big 12s… Led Kansas at the Houston Diving Invite with a second-place finish on the three-meter board (288.70), third on the one-meter board (272.30) and a fourth-place finish on the platform (203.40)… Dove to seventh-place finishes all around in the one-meter, three-meter and platform competitions at the 2008 Zone D diving meet in Houston… Recorded dual meet victories on the one-meter board against Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and Iowa State… Finished first on the three-meter board against opponents Arkansas, Drury, Nebraska and Iowa State… Qualified for the 2008 Summer Senior[apos]s Championships in the 1m and 3m… 2008 West Junior Olympic Winter Champion on 1m.
High School (Omaha Westside): A four-year letter winner in diving, a two-year letter winner in track… Received one letter for cheerleading and one letter for golf… Scored a pool record (478 points), a school record (478 points) and a Metro record (463 points) during her high school tenure… Finished second at the Nebraska State Diving meet 2005-07… Received All-American honors in both 2006 and 2007… Was a member of the high school Honor Roll in 2006, achieving a 4.0 GPA… Made the 3.5 GPA Honor Roll in 2004, 2005 and 2007.
Personal: Parents are Jeff and Julee Mertz… A community health and nursing major… Plans to attend nursing school.
