⚽ Thirteen Jayhawks Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors

Kansas has placed 13 student-athletes on the 2020 Academic All-Big 12 Soccer Team, the conference office announced Thursday. Twelve Jayhawks were named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, including four players – Kathryn Castro, Avery Hall, Ceri Holland and Kailey Lane – who earned a first-team nod for the third time.

Holland and Wiltgen Earn Weekly Conference and National Honors

Senior Ceri Holland and junior Grace Wiltgen have earned weekly conference and national honors for their efforts in Kansas’ 4-1 fall season finale victory against Oklahoma. Holland is the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and a Topdrawersoccer.com (TDS) weekly team honorable mention selection. Wiltgen was named to the TDS weekly team as a defender.

No. 15 Kansas (4-3-1) concludes the 2020 fall season at Rock Chalk Park when it hosts Oklahoma (0-7-1), Sunday, Nov. 15. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. (CT) on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. The game was originally scheduled for Sept. 18 but was rescheduled due to COVID-19.

⚽ Kansas Soccer Inks Four on National Signing Day

KU head coach Mark Francis announced Wednesday that the Jayhawks signed four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. Raena Childers (Grain Valley, Mo.), Emma Beltz (Raymore, Mo.), Magali “Maggie” Gagné (Montreal, Québec, Canada) and Hayven Harrison (Schertz, Texas) will all suit up in the Crimson and Blue.

Despite a solid effort from No. 12 Kansas, Friday’s match against Iowa State ended in a 1-1 draw. With the tie, KU’s record is now 4-3-1 on the season and the Cyclones move to 2-6-1.

No. 12 Kansas (4-3-0) returns home to Rock Chalk Park to host Iowa State (2-6-0), Friday, Nov. 6. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. (CT) on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. The contest will be Kansas’ Senior Day honoring five student-athletes - Kathryn Castro, Mandi Duggan, Avery Hall, Ceri Holland and Kailey Lane - and one manager, Brandon Silansky.

No. 6 West Virginia used a prolific offensive attack to defeat No. 11 Kansas 2-1 Friday evening at Dick Dlesk Stadium in Morgantown, W.Va.
