LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Rowing is set to host the 11th annual Jayhawk Jamboree on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Burcham Park to conclude its fall racing schedule. After facing off and winning three of the four races against Kansas State in last year's Jamboree, Kansas welcomes back its Big 12 foe along with Creighton to the Kansas River.
"Saturday will mark the first opportunity for the vast majority of our team to really compete for the 2024-25 season, it also includes a host of new Jayhawks that just began their collegiate career," said Head Coach Carrie Cook-Callen. "That alone is exciting for our program and a great way to cap off a successful fall competitive season. Friends and family please come on down to Burcham Park to cheer on our Jayhawks and the hard work they've put into being race day ready."
All 70 Jayhawk rowers will hit the water throughout the day starting with the newcomers and freshmen's first official action in the Collegiate Novice 8+ beginning at 10 a.m. CT. The Collegiate Varsity 4+ will follow at 10:30 a.m. CT before a schedule break. Racing will resume at 1 p.m. CT with the Collegiate Novice 4+ and wrap up with the Collegiate Varsity 8+ at 1:30 pm. CT.
The Jayhawk Jamboree is a head race that uses a time-trial format where boats will be launched approximately 10-15 seconds apart from one another with the fastest boat winning the competition.
The Jayhawk Jamboree concludes fall racing for the Kansas Rowing team that produced early success with two victories and three top-10 placings between the Head of the Oklahoma on Oct. 5 and Head of the Charles on Oct. 19-20.
Admission is free for all who are wanting to attend. For more information on parking, seating and more, please visit the Jayhawk Jamboree Information Page.Â
