SALT LAKE CITY – Kansas soccer will close out its road regular season slate on Sunday, as the Jayhawks will face off against the Utah Utes at Ute Field. The match is slated to begin at 2 p.m. CT, and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Kansas (11-3-3, 5-3-1 in Big 12) defeated BYU 3-1 on Thursday evening in Provo, Utah. KU jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first half with goals from Saige Wimes, Jillian Gregorski, and Lexi Watts. The Jayhawks have won back-to-back Big 12 games for the first time this season.
"Thursday at BYU was a really good night for us," Kansas head coach Nate Lie said. "We started off on the front foot which is what we need to do these next couple matches. It's going to be a tough challenge on Sunday at the end of a five-day road trip. We have to come out focused and ready to go if we're going to earn a result against a tough Utah team."
The Jayhawks are currently ranked 14th in RPI. Kansas currently sits in a tie for sixth place in the Big 12 Conference standings with a 5-3-1 record and 16 points. The top eight teams in the conference qualify for the Big 12 Tournament, which will be played from Nov. 3-8.
Kansas is second in the Big 12 in goals scored this year with 36, and is 24th in the country in corner kicks per game, averaging 6.47 corner kicks per match. Lexi Watts is tied for seventh in the Big 12 and leads Kansas with eight goals and 18 points.
Jillian Gregorski is ninth in the Big 12 with seven goals.
Caroline Castans is tied for 18th in the country and is tied for third in the Big 12 with eight assists.
