DURHAM, N.C. – No. 3-seeded Kansas will play in its third Sweet 16 match in program history on Sunday afternoon against the host and No. 2-seeded Duke at Koskinen Stadium. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 1 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN+. Kansas will be seeking its first trip to the Elite Eight in school history.
Kansas (16-5-3) advanced to the third round of the tournament by defeating No. 20 Louisville 3-1 on Thursday afternoon.

Lexi Watts scored two goals in the final 10 minutes to seal the win. The 16 wins for Kansas are the fourth most in program history, and the most since the 2019 season.
"As a head coach, this is my first time advancing to the Sweet 16," Kansas head coach Nate Lie said. "It's such an honor and I feel so indebted to [the players]. I'm not the one playing the game. We were in uncharted territory as a program last year and we have the right people to go attack this challenge, and we'll do our best to continue to represent this program and this university to the best of our ability."
Kansas moved to 10-10-0 all-time in the NCAA Tournament with the win over Louisville. The victory marked the 19th road/neutral win over the last two seasons, which is the most in the country.Â
In the second round win against Louisville, Kansas scored three goals to match the most it has ever scored in an NCAA Tournament match. The Jayhawks also scored three goals in the first round against California Baptist, making it the first time scoring three goals in back-to-back NCAA Tournament games in program history.
Kansas broke its program record for total points in a season on Thursday and now has 154 points. KU also added to its program records in goals and corner kicks, with 51 goals and 164 corner kicks. The Jayhawks recorded four assists against Louisville, bringing the season total to 52, which is the second most assists in a season in program history.
Defender Caroline Castans set a new school record for the most assists in a single-season with her career-high 14th and 15th assists of the season on Thursday. She has four assists in the NCAA Tournament, which is the most by a Kansas player ever in one tournament run and leads all players in the NCAA Tournament this season. Castans currently leads the Big 12 in assists and is tied for second in the nation this year.
The Jayhawks have had several players set career highs this season, beginning with goalkeeper Sophie Dawe leading the nation in minutes played among goalkeepers with a career-high 2,109 minutes. She also has a career-high with 62 saves. Watts has set new career highs in goals and points this season, with 11 goals and 27 points. Gregorski also has new career highs in both categories as well, with career highs of 10 goals and 23 points.
ABOUT DUKE
No. 11-ranked Duke advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament after defeating fellow Big 12 foe UCF 1-0 in the second round on Thursday evening. The Blue Devils enter Sunday's match with a 15-4-1 overall record (7-3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference). Duke finished third in the ACC and fell to Notre Dame in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament. The Blue Devils are led offensively by Mia Minestrella, who has scored 16 goals and tallied four assists to total 36 points on the season. Caroline Dysart has played all 20 games in goal and has recorded 49 saves and has nine shutouts this season.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the second matchup all-time between Kansas and Duke. The first meeting between the teams came on Sept. 10, 2006 in Birmingham, Alabama, in the UAB Classic. Kansas prevailed with a 4-3 victory against No. 12-ranked Duke on a game-winning goal by Shannon McCabe at the 89:33 mark of the match. The Kansas goal was the second latest game-winning goal scored in regulation in school history.
