KENT, Ohio – No. 12 Kansas will finish out its two-match road stint in Ohio on Sunday, Aug. 23, as the Jayhawks will face off against Kent State in Kent, Ohio. The match will begin at 12 p.m. CT and be broadcast on Boxcast.

"Every match gives you an opportunity to respond, and that's what we're focused on right now," Kansas head coach Nate Lie said. "We're disappointed with the result, but we have to move forward. We have to learn from the tough moments, get back to work and make sure we're prepared for Kent State."

The Jayhawks look to bounce back after a tough 1-0 result at No. 19 Ohio State on Thursday. It was the first loss of the season for KU, and snapped a 12-match non-conference unbeaten streak. So far this season, Caroline Castans and Faith Johnston lead the team in goals with two, while London De Fini leads the team with three assists.

De Fini was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 19 and she earned a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week on Aug. 18. She helped the Jayhawks to a 2-0 record over the first week of the season, with both being shutout wins over Utah State (Aug. 12) and Missouri State (Aug. 16). She set new career highs with three assists and five points in the 7-0 record-breaking victory over Missouri State. De Fini was one of five goal scorers in the match.Â

Kansas moved up in the national rankings this week, jumping up to No. 12 in the Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization for Coaches (IWSOC) DI Top 25 Coaches Poll. In addition to the IWSOC ranking, the Jayhawks have earned a No. 12 national ranking from TopDrawerSoccer this week. The No. 12 ranking by IWSOC, formerly known as the United Soccer Coaches poll, is KU's highest ranking under third-year head coach Nate Lie.Â

ABOUT KENT STATE
Kent State enters the weekend with a 1-1-1 record after playing to a 1-1 draw against Youngstown State on Thursday. The Flames are led by Jules Dolinski, who has scored two goals this season. Kent State was picked to finish fifth in the MAC Preseason Poll.
