LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas soccer is set to host the Kansas City Roos in its Unity Match on Thursday, September 3 at Rock Chalk Park. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. CT, and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

"Sunday showed the character of this group," Kansas head coach Nate Lie said. "It wasn't perfect, but we found a way to win, and that's important. Now the challenge is to carry that same fight and mentality into tomorrow's match against Kansas City. It'll take another committed performance from the first minute to the last."

The Jayhawks were tested on Sunday at Rock Chalk Park against Tulsa on a sweltering afternoon. Kansas trailed 1-0 late in the second half before stringing together a multiple key plays to come back and defeat the Golden Hurricane. Marit McLaughlin scored in the 67th minute to tie the match, before Sophie Dawe saved a Tulsa penalty kick to keep the match tied. Norah Jacomen then scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute to give KU the 2-1 win. Kansas tied a program record for shots in a match with 36.Â

Kansas soccer fell to No. 21 in the TopDrawerSoccer poll this week, and are receiving votes in the IWSOC poll. Kansas has been ranked in every TDS poll this season.Â
Jillian Gregorski leads the team and is tied for second in the Big 12 in goals this season with four, and is tied for third in the Big 12 in points with eight. Livvy Moore leads the team and the Big 12 in assists with five, and is also tied for third in the country in assists. Sophie Dawe is tied for the Big 12 lead with 16 saves. As a team, Kansas leads the Big 12 in shots (117), points (45), goals (15), assists (15), and corners (55).Â
ABOUT KANSAS CITY
Kansas City comes into the match with a 0-3-1 record after falling 1-0 to Creighton on Aug. 27. Maryam El-Demerdash has scored one goal this season by way of a penalty kick to lead the Roos. UMKC is averaging 10.7 shots per game this season, which ranks fourth in the Summit League. Annika Patton has registered a team-high eight saves in goal.Â
SERIES HISTORY
Kansas leads the all-time series over Kansas City 3-0-1, and owns a 2-0-0 mark in matches played in Lawrence. The last meeting came on Sept. 7, 2023 in Kansas City, Mo., a match that ended in a 1-1 draw.Â
