LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas had a dominant 202–48 victory over Rockhurst on Saturday afternoon at Robinson Natatorium. The Jayhawks recorded 10 lifetime bests and set two Robinson Pool records in the sweep.
"This meet was a fun one," assistant swimming coach Mary Woods-Lopez said. "We mixed up our lineup and gave swimmers a chance to race events they don't normally compete in. Ending this segment of the season with two pool records and 10 personal bests was exciting."
Kansas opened the meet by sweeping the top three spots in the 200-yard medley relay. The A team of seniors Lydia Lafferty and Ryan Johnston, along with sophomores Anna Gearhart and Sophie Wallace, won in 1:41.50. The B and C squads followed close behind to complete the podium sweep.
Freshman Aubrey Tuthill claimed first in the 1000-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 10:18.09. Kansas continued its momentum with sweeps in the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman Ivy Solt won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:51.83, followed by Gearhart and Wallace. Kelsey Healy captured the 100-yard backstroke in 56.02, with Hannah Green and Ella Hansen finishing second and third. Johnston secured the 100-yard breaststroke title in 1:01.78, edging seniors Caroline Blake and Molly Robinson. Maya Lambert and Hailey Farrell each posted lifetime bests in the backstroke.
Big 12 Newcomer of the Week Sammy Cummins continued her strong freshman campaign by winning the 200-yard butterfly in 2:00.60. Sophomore Taylor Cloutman followed with a personal-best 2:05.72.
Junior Mia Waldron earned back-to-back victories in the 50 and 100-yard freestyles, highlighted by a personal-record 51.36 in the 100-yard. Lafferty and Gearhart followed closely behind in both events. Junior Bradie Ward won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:00.46, with Lafferty and Green rounding out the top three. Farrell added another lifetime best in the event.
Kansas swept the 200-yard breaststroke as Aidan Howze (2:20.41), Alayna Henage (2:22.30) and freshman Madison Wagner (2:24.63) finished first through third, with Wagner recording a lifetime best.
Sophomore Gabi Dyer set the first Robinson Pool record of the meet in the 500-yard freestyle, winning in 4:48.59 to break the previous mark set earlier this year.
Cummins added a second individual win in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking a personal-best 55.26. Sarah Blake placed second and Johnston finished third, while Wallace also recorded a personal best.
Farrell captured her third lifetime best of the meet and broke the second Robinson Pool record in the 200-yard IM, winning in 2:01.31 to surpass the previous record set in 2020. Kansas filled the top six places in the event, including a personal-best swim from Solt. The record marked the fourth pool record broken by Kansas over the past two meets.
The Jayhawks closed the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the A team of Caroline Blake, Wallace, Sarah Blake and Lafferty won in 1:32.68.
