"Our Autism Awareness Game is one of my favorite days of the year," head coach
Dan Fitzgerald said. "Kelly and I are the incredibly proud parents of a son on the autism spectrum. Our hope is that our game brings more awareness and education to a disorder that is now diagnosed in one out of every 36 kids in the United States."
Â
Kansas will be wearing special uniforms and hats that feature a design to help raise awareness for autism. Wednesday's game will feature a sensory-inclusive environment for fans attending. Stadium volume will be silenced at 5:50 p.m. and will gradually increase by inning throughout the game.
Â
World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated on April 2 every year. Information about autism and how it affects children and adults will be shared during the game, and resources will be available at the marketing table. Fans attending the game will also have an opportunity to grab assorted giveaways from the marketing table, while supplies last.
