Kansas Wraps Up Competition at Arkansas Spring Invite

FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. - Kansas Track and Field completed competition at the Arkansas Spring Invite Saturday evening.Â
Sophomore Sidney Smith won the 400-meter hurdles event for the second time in as many meets, and freshman Bethany Druse ran a season-best time in the 800 meters.Â
"It was great to have better weather. We had several seasonal best performances and some event winners. We are still making small mental mistakes that should be corrected with more confidence. Our focus is now on the Kansas Relays and I'm hoping that fans will come show their support," said Kansas Head Coach Stanley Redwine.
Freshman Dean McCune started the day off on the right foot by running a PR time of 14.36 in the Men's 100m Hurdles. Following that, graduate student TJ Robinson took 5th in the Men's 800m Invite with a time of 1:48.89.
Freshman Jackson Belding placed fifth in the Men's 400-meter, running a time of 47.45 seconds. In the same event, sophomore Josiah Parris placed eighth, and Methias Carter ran a season-best to place 14th.Â
Freshman Nathan Thengvall was another Jayhawk who placed inside the top 10 in the Men's 800. Following the Men's 800 was the Women's 400-meter hurdles, where three Jayhawks placed in the top 10. Sidney Smith won the event, freshman Kaleigh Frazier took fourth, and freshman Alinah Sarratt placed eighth.Â
Finally, the Men's 4x400 relay team took third in the event, with another team of Jayhawks placing sixth. The Women's 4x400 relay squad also took third in the final event of the meet.Â

Kansas will next compete in the Kansas Relays presented by RCB Bank. Action from the Relays will begin on Thursday, April 17th at 2 p.m. CT.Â
