EUGENE, ORE. - The Kansas Track & Field team wrapped up Day 3 of the NCAA National Championships with Senior Dimitrios Pavlidis placing 6th in the Men's Discus & the Men's Team finishing 16th in team scores.Â
"I was excited for Dimitrios today, for him to finish his career with another First Team All-American Award was great. We are so thankful for the years we've had with him and wish him the best as he moves into his professional career," Said Kansas Throws Coach Doug Reynolds.
The Greek International threw his podium placing mark on his first throw, which was a mark of 61.04m. Back-to-back seasons, Pavlidis is a First Team All-American, doing so last year when he finished 3rd in the event. Dimitrios ends his Jayhawk career in style, with overall in his career he was a two-time First Team All-American, two-time Big 12 Champion in the Discus, Kansas School Record holder, and he holds the Greek National Record as well.Â
The Kansas Men's Track & Field team finishes the year 16th in the country with 16.5 points scored at NCAA Nationals.Â
"I was excited with the team's finish today. It was a blessing from God; we could've been a point away from being in the top 16, but we were a point into it. So I'm excited and happy for Dimitrios, who finished his career and made First Team All-American, so we're all excited. It was a good season," Said Kansas Head Coach Stanley Redwine.
The Jayhawks will be back in action tomorrow as Junior Sonya Sluchaninova competes in the Men's Discus at 2:30 PM CT.Â
