LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas women's golf had six student-athletes named to the 2024-25 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team, which was announced Monday. This marked the second-straight season KU has had six golfers selected for the honor.
Jayhawks to earn this honor include seniors Lily Hirst, Lauren Clark, Johanna Ebner, junior Amy DeKock, sophomore Lyla Louderbaugh, and freshman Ebba Nordstedt. A total of 1,499 women's collegiate golfers from 403 programs were recognized with the honor.Â
"These six ladies very much so put their studies and academics as a high priority at KU and achieved a great amount of success on the course as well." Kansas head coach Lindsay Kuhle said. "It's difficult to balance the demands of being a student athlete, to play in more than half of the regular season events and achieve a GPA of 3.5 or greater is incredible. I'm very proud of each of them." Coach Kuhle adds.Â
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. To be selected, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season and have played in 50 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.Â
Ebner is receiving this honor for her fourth consecutive season, while Clark recorded this recognition for the third time in her career. Hirst and Louderbaugh received this honor for the second straight season, followed by DeKock and Nordstedt getting recognized for the first times in their career. Â
"This is a goal of our players within the program every year and something they are proud of as well as coach Bidne and I," Kuhle said.Â
The six WGCA All-American Scholar Team selections ties a program record that was accomplished in the 2024 season.Â
